Information on Maximilian Lückenhaus

Information on the person: the computer scientist (PhD) Maximilian Lückenhaus lives and works in Munich (Germany). He owns an answering machine and a still working colour computer of 1989. As artist he creates artworks in form of graphics, paintings, electronic music, and last but not least comics and cartoons.

Artworks: The man behind the small art portal www.wahre-kunst.de sees himself as free thinker regarding genre and technique. Therefore, his work covers realistic pencil drawings as well as purely abstract computer graphic.
The main idea here is to create art that stands for itself, without the constraints of commercialisation and of the simplifying messages of the culture industry. Instead, he tries to explore the possibilities of creativity in order to come closer to the mystery which connects man with the surrounding world. Many artworks of Maximilian Lückenhaus try to examine the world beyond its visible surface and also highlights the dark and irrational seeming side.

Comics & cartoons: Maximilian Lückenhaus also works with the instruments of the so-called "ninth art". Not only because comics are an ideal medium for storytelling and to impart ideas, but also because comics provide great possibilities of dramaturgy (similar to movies).
Early comics of Maximilian Lückenhaus appeared in fanzines, of which one also has been edited by him ("EVIV - Der Maulwurf"). Meanwhile Lückenhaus cartoons and comics have been published by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" or in the "Münchener Merkur", also in online portals, and in many publications of the Munich scene (e.g. Comicaze, Comicstrich, Anno Domini, X-TRON, Comixs, Comic-INDEX, or the Hamburg Duck Art calendar). Sometimes he wins a people's choice award (e.g. Comixs) and participates in several exhibitions onm Munich, Stuttgart, and other places. Lückenhaus-Cartoons also decorate t-shirts of the werkoderko fashion label.

Music: Addicted to the magic of synthetic sound, Maximilian Lückenhaus also composes and produces electronic music; basically to experiment with tone colours and create atmosphere by sound. Some tracks have ben released on CD so far, most tracks can be downloaded for free on portals (such as myspace, last.fm).
